The Awakening Process

Awakening refers to the process of waking up from being programmed by society. We begin to realize the meaning of freedom, peace of mind, and happiness in daily living. Once you have freed yourself, it is challenging to go back to the norm. I have experienced many phases, layers and stages in my own Awakening Process. It has been an incredible journey, offering some challenges and many joys – as I imagine yours has for you too.

The Higher Self

The Awakening Process is about the discovery of “Self Realization”, the “Ascension Process”, or “Kundalini Awakening”. These are transformative processes because we wake up from our sense of limitation – the lack of – and separate into the realization of our “Higher Self”.

The term that describes the realization of one’s “Higher Self” varies throughout different cultures. Some examples of these terms are:

  • Ground of Being
  • Ultimate Reality
  • God
  • Truth Self with a capital “S”
  • All that IS
  • Source
  • Higher Power
  • The Universe

The Individual Awakening Process

The Awakening Process is not the same for everyone. Some may have experienced it at a young age, while others embark on the journey later in life.

Below is a list of resources that will help you understand your own Journey to Awakening. These resources may help you discover what you have to offer and understand what you are going through.

You may find that your specific journey or “Awakening Process” is not be fully recognized in any of these resources, but you can still use them as a guide for your self-study. Whatever your journey, we are here to help you become the person you visualize yourself to be.

The Survey Is Now Over. Stay Tuned for the Results!!!

If you are interested in “Spiritual Awakening” it’s likely you have been on your path of “Awakening” for many years or you are new to the path but had a powerful introduction.

My journey of conscious “Awakening” began at a very young age. It was, and continues to be, an incredible journey with many phases, layers, stages and experiences, some challenging and others joyous as I imagine it has been for you too.

As I mentioned in your email invitation, the initial inspiration for creating this survey, which includes a list of “Awakening Process” (AP) effects, came from observation of myself and from coaching clients, and it especially arises from a desire to acknowledge and make sense of my own experiences with the “Awakening Process”.

I believe many of the realizations and joys, as well as the difficulties could have been easier to accept and integrate if I had understood my experiences (especially the challenging effects) as evidence of a much larger and ultimately desirable process! With this knowledge, I might have been able to better identify the need for resources, support, and assistance through the uncomfortable or difficult places and guidance throughout this process as it unfolded earlier along the way.

“AWAKENING PROCESS EFFECTS SURVEY” INTENTIONS

  • EFFECTS OF THE AWAKENING PROCESS: To identify & describe the effects of the AP in order to “normalize” them as components of this process rather than evidence of something abnormal or wrong.
  • SUPPORT AND RESOURCES: To formally gather additional information about the AP experience, and to get a sense of what people desire in terms of support and resources
  • ANALYZE RESULTS AND CREATE A RESOURCE: To follow an evaluation of the survey results with the creation of an AP Effects eBook that includes an “AP Checklist” as a resource for the Awakening Process Experience.
  • PARTICIPATION GIFT: To offer the AP Effects eBook as a “Participation Gift” for survey responders for use both as a Practitioners guide and a resource for anyone experiencing effects of the “Awakening Process”.

WHAT IS THE AWAKENING PROCESS?

Awakening is an ongoing process, a verb that ultimately leads to freedom, peace of mind and happiness in daily living. Embodied or integrated Awakening is sometimes described as enlightenment or the spiritual evolution and embodiment of Consciousness.

The Urban Dictionary defines Spiritual Awakening as a shift in consciousness, a perception of reality which had been previously unrealized. The culmination of such realizations is in the recognition of Self as all that is.

The Awakening Process has been described in many ways including, “Self Realization”, the “Ascension Process”, or “Kundalini Awakening”. These terms suggest that, through a transformative process, we wake up from our sense of limitation, lack, and separation into the realization and embodiment of “Higher Self”.

Higher Self realization has been described by many terms throughout time and cultures. Although any name we use only serves as a pointer to that which is beyond concepts and language to define, here are just a few:

  • Ground of Being
  • Ultimate Reality
  • God
  • Truth Self (with a capital “S”)
  • All that IS
  • Source
  • Higher Power
  • The Universe, and more!

YOUR AWAKENING PROCESS IS UNIQUE

Every individual’s “Awakening Process” will be a continuum of phases that unfold throughout a lifetime, unique and specific to each person. The “Awakening Process Effects Survey” you’re about to begin includes a list of possible more common effects of the “Awakening Process”. Since this list is not comprehensive, you may not find your experience represented fully. There will be a place on this survey for you to contribute any additional “Awakening Process” effects you may have experienced.

Confidentiality: The survey results will be reported in the aggregate. The individual answers of each survey respondent will never be associated with individualy identifying information.

The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. To receive the “Participation Gift” you will be asked to include your email address so it can be delivered to you when the project is complete.

AWAKENING PROCESS EFFECTS (PILOT) SURVEY

A SAMPLING OF RESULTS

The 8 Most Frequently Experienced “Awakening Process Effects”:

  1. Feeling centered in the heart, radiating love, devotion, compassion, and gratitude.
  2. Ability to shift from fear and resistance to acceptance of “what is.”
  3. Need for more time alone.
  4. Previously accepted spiritual, scientific, or cultural resources have been losing their importance or relevance.
  5. Less of a need for validation from others to feel whole, complete, or loved.
  6. Ability to witness and feel challenging emotions without identifying with them.
  7. Only present time exists—living in the moment.
  8. Reduction of mental chatter, allowing for focused use of the mind.

Highest % “Occasionally” Experienced:

  • Increased awareness of limited or destructive beliefs and underlying behaviors yet still acting on them (90%).
  • Feeling ungrounded, confused, or disoriented (80%).
  • Stress symptoms such as heart palpitations, adrenaline rush, anxiety, etc. (80%).
  • Uncomfortable energy movement and sensations in the body (80%).

How Would You Describe the Main “Awakening Process” Effects You Are Experiencing Now or Have Experienced?

  • As a coming home to myself, over and over again. Throughout the process, I’ve felt disoriented, confused, scared, and frustrated, and yet, around each corner has been a deeper sense of self and knowing and trust in the unfolding of life
  • More access to Love and to my heart, aligned feeling of energy moving through me as me, better discernment of the Light vs. my ego patterns, expanded desire for devotional practice and not to “settle” for the parts of me not aligned to Truth
  • Less fear, greater freedom, more sense of connection and trust in life, clearer perception of other human beings, better boundaries, personal empowerment
  • Moments of hyper-presence, vividness of sensory experience, inner peace, release from judgment of self or others, calm mind, open hearted compassion for all life
  • Enhanced sense of well-being, more coherent communication, improved skill of creating and holding boundaries, more stable and enduring relationships, sense of enhanced joy not tied to external occurrences
  • I notice that as I have become more in tune with myself and have felt some peace, that I am really aware when things feel off.
  • A pervasive sense of well-being and a natural High that is in place moment to moment. Things seem to be moved by a natural, unfettered Flow and even when feeling uncomfortable things, a sense of holding it all in equanimity.
  • Realizing how many people aren’t awake. Trying to stay non-judgmental and focused on why I’m here instead of what they’re not getting.
  • Developing the ability to recognize the difference between fear and pure acceptance of “what is”. When I operate from fear I operate from the limited perceptions and senses. When I operate from acceptance I am open to all possibility in any given moment. Intuition can then take root. Initially, the effects of letting go of egoic structures can seem confusing and emotionally painful. Letting go of ego identity structures can feel like life or death. I guess in a way it is a death. The death of my identification with my physical body or limited beliefs from indoctrination. Liberation comes when we see the illusions we keep ourselves trapped in and surrender to “what is” from a feeling perspective.
  • Continuing recognition of patterns, particularly ancestral, and how they have affected my subconscious. And how that has affected my current state in life.
  • I am feeling much more connected to all that is. A sense of peace about my life and all that comes each day. Less anxiety and worry about how to live, what is to come and how to be.
